About this listen

It was just supposed to be a quick trip to the pet store for some cat food, but the universe had other plans for Florence Valentine.

Good for nothing kids and some annoying store employees were giving her a hard time, and then things got worse when she was killed by a delivery truck. Instead of angels, pearly gates, and eternal rewards, a voice in her head keeps telling her that she’s become a dungeon core, whatever that is.

Now people keep coming into her new home, wrecking stuff, and stealing from her. But not everything about this whole ordeal is bad. Not only can Florence decorate her home with a thought, but she can also create the best things in the entire universe — she can create kitty cats.

Should these hooligans keep insisting on coming into her home, well, Florence and her kitties are going to have something to say about that.

Thoroughly enjoyable

I bought this purely because it was narrated by Andrea Parsneau, she is the best narrator, makes it seem like there’s a whole cast reading.
The story though was excellent, really enjoyed it, quite an unusual set up.
I will definitely get book two.
This really helped with filling the long wait until Wandering Inn book 5 is released.

A story Thomas O'mally wouldn't want

Cat Core by #DeanHenegar. As ever, I think that the DOC series will always be a prime example of any dungeon core book and as such a standard has been set. This book, however, has taken the dungeon core experience to a whole new level.

The MC Florence is a prim and proper old lady until she finds herself living the life of a #dungeoncore. Helped by her sidekick cat 🐱 Doug she spends her money on dungeon renovations... and cats.

For any fans of the #WanderingInn series, listen out for Doug whose voice mimics Pisces the necromancer as played by @MouthyMaven. A great read, lost one star because the text became a little rambling in places... 📚4/5🌟 #BookReview

Slightly odd premise works really well

As far as setups to a story, a non-gaming pensioner becoming the personification of a dungeon filled with house cats is such an unusual one that it almost seems like the author has challenged himself to deliver a cohesive and entertaining story from such a starting point. However, this author has shown in the past with previous series that he is more than capable of delivering compelling books with a less conventional MC and this one is no exception as it results in an entertaining listen and a great setup for subsequent books too.

The narration certainly helps make the author's job easier too, with the narrator delivering a strong performance that helps bring the characters to life.

Overall, an odd premise results in a great listen.

A good listen.

I had some difficulty adjusting to the MC but she grew on me as well as the rest of the story. The narrator was excellent and made up for a lot of more cringe and annoying bits of the script.

I can recommend this with an advice of patience in mind and i am convinced any fan of the genre will enjoy it.
