About this listen

The first instalment of The Lunar Chronicles - a futuristic reenvisioning of Cinderella in which Cinder is a cyborg mechanic.

A forbidden romance. A deadly plague. Earth's fate hinges on one girl....

Cinder, a gifted mechanic in New Beijing, is also a cyborg. She's reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister's sudden illness. But when her life becomes entwined with the handsome Prince Kai's, she finds herself at the centre of a violent struggle between the desires of an evil queen - and a dangerous temptation.

Cinder is caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal. Now she must uncover secrets about her mysterious past in order to protect Earth's future.

This is not the fairy tale you remember. But it's one you won't forget.

Modern twist on an old fairy tale ish....

I liked this book, it was nicely fast paced and the interesting concepts. Modern or even futuristic spin on Cinderella tale , I'd be intrigued to see what's next for Cinder et al.

I'd like to hear more from this author and narrator

A solid series start

I really enjoyed this, and I’ll be honest, it didn’t grab me when I started. But once Cinder found her way to the science wing of the Royal Palace, things really picked up, and the ending…. I’m glad I’ve got the next one lined up in my library already!

Great take

This is a great take on a classic. A great start to the next three books. Some plots are perdictable. But still worth the listen. Off to get book two.

Pleasant

Easy listen, quick and straightforward. Cinder didn't seem like too deep of a character but it was still a good retelling.
