Everything!
I have listened avidly to every book of Joy Ellis’s; DI Galena series. I love the characters, every books storyline & all the strands of background story that moves through every book. With no longer being able to read, Joy Ellis’s books put on audio, have brought me real Joy! It’s so important that you have the right narrator, whose voice brings the characters, places, and even the weather to life. I live in Lincolnshire & it’s as beautiful & everything in between as the books describe. As Joy brings some of the back stories together, as I so hoped them to be. I feel sad that this maybe the last in DI Galena series ( I hope I’m wrong). Thank you Joy Ellis for giving me back books, in allowing them to be put on audio ( which I’m so grateful for) & thank you even more to Henrietta Marie, for bringing to life these excellent books; with her amazing skills of narration, her voice is perfect, so easy to listen to as said earlier, in this very long review. Henrietta reads from Joy Ellis’s books & enables me to visualise & hear each story in glorious technicolour, as if watching a TV Drama in my mind. 🤩💕

Fantastic
Brilliant as are all Joy’s books, love all the different series. I will wait patiently for the next book in the series. I live on the Fens so listening to these books is very special and somehow they feel like home for me

Excellent as always!
This was another great story from this series. Didn’t guess the culprit which is always a sign of a good book. I have no issue with the narrator, she is the voice of this series and I don’t like changing narrators.

An excellent story, intricately woven expertly told and worthy of the series I have so enjoyed.
I love Joy Ellis' work, I have read or rather listened to everyone of her books I can find. This story is no exception, and it continues to pursue the characters I have come to be so invested in during the previous episodes of the tales of the Fenland Constabulary. Well done Joy-another massively enjoyable tale of characters I have come enjoy so much.

Good twist towards the end
I usually figure out what the ending will be half way through a book but this one was clever and had me guessing. I enjoyed it and the narration was good. I've listened to this whole series on audible and enjoyed them all.

Great series got me very involved
As soon as the audio book was available I ordered it as I wanted to keep up with the series and how Nikki was resolving her personal issues which were quite complicated. (Loved the ending just perfect) I kept involved with all the strands and how they fitted together and were resolved it worked really well.
I do think the narration really suits the books.

Good tale but ….
Have enjoyed lots of Joy Ellis books and like the characters and being able to visualise the Fens. This was a good storyline spoiled by the narrator with an overly posh accent. Also sounded quite aggressive towards characters being questioned

Almost spoiled by narrator
Love Joy’s books and very invested in this series. However the narrator is totally wrong. Her RP is quite grating and she is hopeless at regional accents. The Welsh one was particularly awful. I persevered out of loyalty but it wasn’t an easy listen!

Another great listen!
I loved this as much as the previous Nikki Galena books.
The narrator is generally really good, but she needs to practice her Welsh accent - it was a mix of many areas, but definitely not Welsh! My other slight frustration is that the pathologist has a very English accent in this set of books, but is Scottish in the Jackman series.
