Great story, appalling narration
This is a good series but seriously damaged by the narrator. Some of the mispronouncements (detritus, SOCO, surplice, commandeered to name but a few) are hilarious, but not in a good way....was there no editor involved? Accents the worst ever

Another great DI Galena Book
I’ve recently discovered the Fens series of books telling the story of DI Nikki Galena and DS Joseph Easter. I’m really enjoying them and I would have rated the book five stars except for the narration! The narrator a lovely voice when just reading passages however her accents are atrocious when she is reading dialogue between the various characters. I’m persevering as I want to see how the relationships develop between all the main characters however I would love to hear these books again if narrated by someone else.

Gripping twister of a tale
Suspense from the beginning with the frisson of Sexual awareness between Nicky & Joseph runs as a silver thread through the twists & turns of the story. Just as you think you have it 'sussed" a new twist develops. The denouement is great. ! The tantalising bit at the end is the question about Joseph & Nicky- did they have a fling or not. I am gasping for my next dose!!!

Great story, pity about the narrator.
I’m really reviewing the narrator, as long as she’s not doing an accent, she’s great, but her accents are almost comically bad. I thought the unwritten rule of narrating was that the main character should be done in the narrator’s own voice, but this lady gives the main character a very scratchy & dissonant voice.
Fortunately the story is good enough for me to overlook the accent work.

Great story and characters let down by narration
As always, Joy Ellis, delivers a compelling and engaging plot. Perhaps a bit over the top, but still entertaining. The characters are well developed and interesting. However, as in the previous books, the narrator's painful attempt at regional accents is grating on the ears and, at least for me, detracts from my enjoyment of the book. I prefer to read the Kindle version.
