Would you want to know what your colleagues say behind your back?

Jolene certainly doesn’t.

She’s riddled with anxiety, depressed, and hates her coworkers. The less she knows about them, the better.

So when a catastrophic IT f*ck up grants her access to all of their emails and private messages, she’s initially horrified. The last thing she wants is to be privy to their sad discussions about dying desk plants and marital troubles.

That’s until, with job cuts looming, she realises the power this new-found knowledge gives her.

But as she digs deeper and deeper into the private lives of her colleagues, Jolene uncovers a lot more than she bargained for… And the walls she’d so carefully built start crumbling down.

There was plenty to like and a few things to dislike. It took a while to get into and I really disliked those first few chapters until things began to fall in place. After that it got better bit by bit with all things falling into place by the end. One big thing though, why did it happen? It was never actually explained.

A tolerable story

Very fun book, lots of laugh out loud moments. cringes, and emotional moments. I really enjoyed the narrator's performance and while Cliff isn't my kind of love interest at all he had his swoonworthy moments!

Surprisingly sweet and emotional

It’s difficult to put in words how much this book meant. It wasn’t an easy listen at times feeling the anxiety and rollercoaster of emotions the protagonist went through but it was real. A wonderful story. Thank you.

There were several times when i thought wasn’t going to finish this book as it felt quite bleak at times but I’m so glad I stuck with it because it was not only funny and poignant but incredibly heartwarming in a truly genuine way.

Genuinely heartwarming

Great performance and I was gripped by the twists and turns. I enjoyed the narration.

Really interesting take on modern office politics

4 for 3.5. I enjoyed the story a lot but after a couple of hours the almost constant intensely dramatic narration of Jolene’s inner world was just so irritating. It really impacted my enjoyment of the book. I appreciate this is probably down to the direction rather than the skill of the narrator.

Good story but over dramatic narration

Did get second hand embarrassment for some of the characters at points but overall I really enjoyed the story. Worth a listen for sure!

Unexpectedly beautiful! Started off as a funny office comedy and quickly became a wise tearjerker. The narration was stunning!
