Powerful subject
The author of this book did a great job to explaining what is happening in family relationship, between family members, etc. When you interact with stranger toxic person, most of the time it is short interaction and it is over. Unfortunately with family members it is different, most of the time they are there and you have to deal with. Most people no idea what to do with toxic, narcissistic family members. And many cases people are keep suffering for no reason. But your life is pressures already, you do not have to to additional stress on you. It is does not matter how much you love them, sometimes in life we have to learn to cancel them. However, this book is great guide, what steps to take first, how to communicate, give your family members a chance to realize and change. But some times whatever you do it does not work. At the end of day, you do not have to struggle, suffer, going through negative emotions, feel psychological pain, sometimes it is time to cancel them. It is your life and you have to be respectful to yourself first. It is your wellbeing. Great book, will help a lot of people to leave toxic people and live bless full life

Such a Great Resource
I highly recommend this audiobook! As someone who has had counseling for being the family scapegoat, this book is a wonderful guide to understanding the toxic relations in life. The author provides real life examples and each section of the work enables self-reflection instead of reactions. This is a must listen for all people regardless of your family dynamic, you may well find that some relations with family need more work than others.

You cant pick your family
As soon as I saw the cover of this book I was so drawn to it as I immediately thought this author has probably seen and been through the same as me with some of my undesirable family and I was not wrong. Chapter 1 is absolutely brilliant because it is so true. Listen carefully and you will understand the signs to look for with toxic people. Sneakiness, self centeredness and , manipulative. .If you are surrounded by toxic people there will come a time to leave them behind and walk away and this is exactly what chapter 3 will cover. The six steps provided in this chapter will help prepare you for the emotional turmoil you will face when you walk away from family members. The narration is excellent as fits with what the author experienced and what she is trying to teach you

Illuminating, Fascinating and Powerful
Phoebe Chester has put a great deal of research and consideration into this audiobook, and I felt like I was learning something new with every chapter.
I especially appreciated the author's thoughtful and balanced viewpoint. Phoebe has approached a difficult and contentious subject with care and sensitivity. She has not sugarcoated difficulties or uncomfortable truths, nor has she provided trite solutions or easy answers. There is genuine and practical help in this audiobook and I already feel a stronger, more confident person after only a single listen.
Megen Meyer approaches the narration calmly and sympathetically, ensuring that Phoebe Chester's practical advice and strategies for putting yourself first are warmly and clearly conveyed.

Very Helpful
Very well done. The author has done such a great job. This audiobook will help you become more aware of the people around you. She explains how to deal with mental and emotional trauma of dealing with a toxic family member. How to put yourself first. Love that she has real life stories and gives examples after every chapter with activities for self reflection. In chapter 9 (Focus On You) She suggest you get a journal and gives you a list 40 topics for you to journal about. Which I will be doing. The narrator has a very soothing voice so it's very easy to listen to. Highly Recommend becuase I think we all have at least one family member that is toxic.

Super helpful
This book is your all-in-one guide for dealing with toxic family members and how to break away. I love how the author explains in detail what a toxic person is and how they can negatively impact your life, as many people don’t realize this and treat it as normal. I have a much better understanding of this from my listening.
I found the chapter on how to walk away very helpful, as the author recognises that many people will be reluctant and find it hard, as they are leaving a family member that they think they are obliged to stay with it. The instruction and advice have reassured me that it is ok to walk away and will benefit me much more in the long run.
I received great value from the advice on dealing with the aftermath, as I find this the most difficult with breaking away. You can tell the author fully sympathizes’, and understands how difficult this is, and she gives you all you need to deal with it and live your best life. Overall great book!

Deal with dysfunction
If you come from a family with a lot of dysfunction, you know how hard it is to heal and finally get to a place where you can set boundaries and have consequences when people cross them. You always feel like you are getting sucked back in. This book is such an empathetic guide to that place. It helps you to see clearly the kind of dysfunction you are dealing with and then provides a way out. I will still go back to the chapter on denial because I still have plenty to learn. Thank you for this book.
