About this listen

The eldar are an ancient race whose mode of war blends spirituality with a unique mastery of technology. In times of need, their entire race will rouse to war, led by terrifying, almost mythological figures - the phoenix lords, immortal beings that embody the warrior nature of the eldar.

A swift and deadly fighter, Jain Zar can harness the rage of her scream to slaughter any who dare oppose her. When a burgeoning ork empire starts to pose a threat to the eldar peoples, Jain Zar travels to the craftworld Ulthwé to warn them of the danger. However, she finds her plans to divert disaster are opposed by one of the craftworld's own seers, Eldrad.

With so many futures possible, which path should the eldar walk to avert destruction of their craftworlds and put an end to the greenskin menace?

Interesting and informative but can be hard to follow at times. A story of the the Eldar post fall and the foundation of the Phoenix Lords - interesting.

Though at times flicking between multiple story lines makes it hard to follow.

Chaos and Imperium factions are very overused. I’m glad to see something that focuses on Xenos. Good novel and narration makes it even better.

This isn't a story just about Jain Zar. It's a bit more than that. Highly recommend to the few Eldar fans.

its a good story but hade some problem with the switch of past and the present. but very good feeling when meeting Heros of the Craftworlds.

The performance was great. But the transitions between past and present were so quick sometimes it was easy to feel lost for a moment.
The story was good, not ‘best 40K book’ standards. But was really enjoyable, especially if wanting to know more about Eldar culture.

Not for beginners to W40k and Eldar lore as the book doesn't hand hold but this is the best representation of what it is to be Eldara, their society and motivations I have ever read. It's not for everyone and there's a bit too much repetition of the main characters mental internal battle but for me this was a fantastic listen and a great W40k novel!

I found the narrator hammy, annoying and therefore distracted me from the story.
I can’t decide whether Gav Thorpe is a ‘good’ writer, however I did enjoy the story and as a Warhammer Aeldari player it was interesting.

done well and shows a lot of background of the pheonix Lords and how they begin. Emma has a great voice for this telling. the interaction between different factions of eldar is great and the tyrant is done well. personally would have only been improved with abit more detail on the craftworld side of things but that's being picky. would recommend for sure
