About this listen

The instant Sunday Times bestseller.

'An intriguing, complex and hugely enjoyable small-town whodunnit' Janice Hallett, The Examiner

'Funny yet poignant, cosy yet complex, familiar yet unique, I loved this' Jennie Godfrey, The List of Suspicious Things

There's a killer on the airwaves… and they're calling for you.

Darkness looms over sunny Sidmouth, when an unsolved murder comes to the attention of late-night radio talk show host Edward Temmis.

Recently sacked from his beloved job after a devastating tragedy, Edward is cast adrift – until he meets Stevie, whose grandmother, a devoted listener, died in a suspicious fire last year. Well, nobody hurts his listeners and helping Stevie might just give him the purpose he needs.

Joined by his old fling, Kim, they discover Stevie's grandmother wasn't the only one of his listeners targeted – this is just the tip of the iceberg.

But who is pursuing his ageing audience and why? And can Edward, Stevie and Kim get to the bottom of this mystery before it’s too late?

I enjoyed this immensely an original storyline and well crafted. However, Jeremy was like a greyhound at the starting gate the pace was to fast I slowed the speed to 95%

Slow down Jeremy

Rare .. for me to write a review BUT this book is brilliant from start to finish .. please write another again soon .. in the mean time I’m gonna have to read it again

I loved the story but found the listen boring at times, even when slowed to 95,%. I love Jeremy but he needs to get a professional narrator for the future. Marion Keyes has narrated some of her more recent books and it just never works. if Jeremy continues to narrate his own books, I shall read hard copy in the future because the story is actually so very good.

Great story

I enjoyed the book but as I worked out the baddy quickly, I had ages before the rest of the characters caught up. Good concept and subplot but just frustrating that there was no twist

Loved this book so beautifully read too. Characters and suspense excellent. Highly recommend. Hope there’ll be another.

Hooked from the start

JV’s irritating machine gun/staccato narration style spoilt what might otherwise have been an enjoyable book. I wouldn’t listen to another if he decides to narrate any future books. Stick to radio shows Jeremy!

I thought this book had a decent story line, better than some I have read.

However… this was such a difficult listen and I nearly gave up half way through. Jeremy is a presenter and a broadcasting host, not an audiobook narrator. It would have been so much better if read by someone else. The accents were cringey, many of the characters sounded the same and, although there were very few, the ‘intimate’ scenes made me feel uncomfortable

I really wish this was narrated by someone else!
