About this listen

A perfect life....

Paul Henderson leads a normal life. A deputy headteacher at a good school, a loving relationship with girlfriend Jenna and a baby on the way. Everything seems perfect.

A shocking message....

Until Paul receives a message from his ex-fiancé, Nicole. Beautiful, ambitious and fierce, Nicole is everything Jenna is not. And now it seems Nicole is back, and she has a score to settle with Paul....

A deadly secret.

But Paul can’t understand how Nicole is back. Because he’s pretty sure he killed her with his own bare hands....

Which means someone else knows the truth about what happened that night. And they’ll stop at nothing to make Paul pay....

A brand-new psychological thriller that will keep you guessing till the end! Perfect for fans of Sue Watson, Nina Manning and Shalini Boland.

Interesting plot which then sadly became far fetched

The reading of the book came across a computer generated. It lacked dynamic and consequently the story lost impact. It was a grind to get to the end

Fabulous Story

Really compelling once I got used to the narrator.
Couldn't stop listening, even second guessing didn't help. So good. Definitely recommend.

Remember Me

An interesting story although it seemed to take a long time to get to the core of the story. Lots of twists at the end .

A twisty turny thriller spoilt by a rather stupid ending

I’d read mixed reviews but have enjoyed other books by this author so decided to give it a go, The narrator is a bit annoying but not terrible and the story is engaging with twists and turns to keep you guessing about who was guilty of what. It was hard to put down, I had to keep listening because I had to know what happened next! Right up to a rather stupid ending that has left me feeling quite cross.
If you don’t mind that, the rest of the book is really rather enjoyable.

Excellent narration.

An engaging story but continued with so many twists and turns that it was not only confusing, but unbelievable.

Starts well

Then just gets too silly. I’d enjoyed other Sally Rigby books but not this one.

Set speed to 1.1- makes narration less grating

Story seems good - not finished yet. Narrator initially put me off and genuinely thought this was AI narrated, but played with speed settings and 1.2-1.2 makes it much more enjoyable . Loved all the Sally Rigby books so sure this won’t disappoint but consider narration for future books

Disappointing

Sorry to say that having thoroughly enjoyed the Walker and Cavendish series I was looking forward to this new style of writing and genre but it’s left me feeling a bit, well, meh. I prefer the reality of DCI Walker’s investigations and characters compared to the complex but barely believable plot and storyline of this first joint effort between Rigby and Ashby. But maybe I missed something so I’ll likely give book two a second chance.

Interesting story

Although I wanted to find out where this was going, I found Paul to be rather annoying with the memory thing going on.
It became clear who was doing this about two thirds of the way through, although I suspected it much earlier.
Saying all this I enjoyed the story, the performance playing at x1.1 was good although I would have preferred Clare Corbett (of course!).
