About this listen

Forsaken to be a killer and sent to be a destroyer, Sviska must choose his own path.

Sviska is a man of the shadows, an assassin without any one place to call his own. But in the Far North, he discovers a secret. Magic, long thought lost to the world, is alive. The genocide to destroy every elf, wizard, and sacred being of old is not yet complete. Sviska's masters work the strings of the world and he has been sent for a task he does not even fully understand yet. When at last he feels he has what he has always wanted, darkness falls upon the world.

Forced to rise up to face an enemy more terrible than any he has ever met, Sviska comes to a moral crossroad. The Rogues of Magic rise but will Sviska be the blade that unites them all or strikes those of magic from the world forever?

In this Tale of the Dwemhar trilogy, prepare yourself for a war that will bring about the gods of old, the remnants of the many races of magic, and follow a man in his journey to awaken that which sleeps deep within himself.

Contains the complete series (Books 1-3) of the Rogues of Magic.

A good read/listen

I enjoyed the story with some good characters and easy listening. Is it the best ever! No. But I was not dissapointed.

Not quite finished

I get the feeling the author wasn't finished with the books. There are plot holes, contradictions etc. The overall storyline is compelling but the characters are shallow and single-minded. The main character is supposed to be an excellent assassin yet he is surprisingly useless in fights. I have 11h left but I give up.

Mind Wandered

This is the first audio book I have listened to that I have struggled to concentrate on. For whatever reason I would simply zone out and then half an hour or five minutes later realise the book was on and I hadn't a clue what had happened. I think it was a combination of the narrator and the writing.
I did finish it and it was not the best book, cheap to buy as a trilogy for one credit but I do wish I had just given up instead of keeping listening. I did like the storyline, and characters just apparently not the execution.

Good start but a struggle to finish

I really enjoyed the first book. I liked the characters and the story. So I got the triology. Not sure what to think of the second one, it felt disjointed, and the third one didn't seem to have a story line left at all. It was like listening to hours and hours of parliament sessions where everyone had to have their say and then on to the next battle. I think for me there were just too many peoples ,chiefs and characters and they all had to have their say on every subject. I didn't care much anymore what happened to them. If it wasn't for Tim's excellent narration I would have given up.

Bringing life to the characters

I enjoyed the way Tim brings all the characters alive as though you are there with them a true art.

OMG

This is quite a few hours I won't get back again, for an assassin the main character is very naive, just like the writing, I finished the book more for the narration than the story..could do better!

Rogues of magic

I was a little doubtful of this story, however, after the first few words of the start of this story I was enthralled, its a very good book, the reader was pretty good, its one book that I will listen to again at some point. I will go as far as to say its rates with David and Lee Eddings and comes to a close third in my liking, my first is Tolkien, I think the writer has a very good grasp of fantasy and look forward to the next saga.

C+

I can't put my finger on it exactly but the style of writing seemed a little basic, I often found myself getting bored when the author would describe a scene, it just didn't seem to flow or the descriptive structure seemed blocky. Managed the first book and stopped listen just into the 2nd book. On the plus side as always I enjoyed Tim Reynolds performance.
