About this listen

The newly discovered novel from multi-million-selling author Joy Ellis. Never-before published!

THREE NICE PEOPLE. THREE TERRIBLE CRIMES. WHAT MADE THEM DO THESE AWFUL THINGS?

It’s the night shift worker who finds them. Huddled in a hospital store cupboard is elderly Edith Higgins. Knifed to death. Sitting behind her is Staff Nurse Lily Frampton, a scalpel clasped in her blood-soaked hand.

No one can understand why this kind-hearted, dedicated nurse would brutally murder a frail patient she’s spent months caring for.

That same day, mild-mannered schoolteacher Rod Black is found surrounded by the battered bodies of his pupils. Why would a well-respected teacher beat five schoolboys to death?

Then a third shocking — and equally inexplicable — incident takes place in a London homeless shelter.

I loved this book and the one before. The mix of a little 'magic' and police story worked really well.
I love all her books and hope she has the inclination to pick this series back up. 5*

Loved the mix, Magic and Police work

Have read both the “old but new” books by Joy Ellis and loved them both, left me wishing there was more in this genre from her.

As this was the author’s second book (left in the loft) it was good, it went on a bit. Repeating the same thing like you’d forgotten it previously, it was nice to revisit the characters but it didn’t have the same feeling as the first book, or the suspense. I know this is the last in the ‘series’ but I’d like it if Joy Ellis could revisit it again to catch up the characters. I enjoyed the subject too.

As engaging and mystical as the fist book. Sad that it ended here. Could have gone a long way.

The main characters are crafted with care and love. It’s a story full of mystery and intrigue.

Really enjoyed this book. A good twist of supernatural and serial killer. I’m afraid I found the narrator very monotonous and lacking any effort at voice characterisation; she just sounded as if she was bored stiff and couldn’t wait to fulfill her contractual obligation. Pity as they are some fantastic narrators out there.

Very enjoyable story… poor narration
