Listening to The Eye of the World made me feel like I was experiencing it for the first time all over again. Robert Jordan is truly an exceptional voice in fantasy.

Fantastic

Would you consider the audio edition of The Eye of the World to be better than the print version?

Haven't read the print version, so can't comment.

What didn’t you like about Kate Reading and Michael Kramer ’s performance?

I found their accents very harsh and difficult to to listen to. I tried numerous times to start listening to this book over the period of a few years and couldn't get through the first chapter because I really didn't like the voice of the narrator. It took me a long time to try and 'ignore' the accent and get into the story.

Any additional comments?

By the 13th book, I was getting used to listening to the narrators, but would have enjoyed the books a lot more if the narrators weren't so prominent and if they were more integrated with the story.I expect this comment is pertinent only to non American listeners. I believe there is an argument here for using different narrators for different countries in the world. I'm Scottish, and would have preferred listening to a British voice reading the story - only because I wouldn't have been so focussed on the accent. I have noticed this with other books, but not to such a great extent.

Great story - once you get used to the narrators

brilliantly read and masterfully written. A fresh if dated look at the saviour of the world scenario. can't wait to listen to the rest

a great start

Would you listen to The Eye of the World again? Why?

The Eye of the word was amazingly written by Robert Jordan and the performance of the audio readers was excellent so I would defiantly recommend it.

Amazing

I first read this book many years ago, and decided recently after finishing reading the latest novel in the series that I'd like to revisit the entire series. Rather than read through them all again, I decided to take the plunge and get them in audio book format.

I've not been disappointed - the story is compelling, with excellent characters that draw you into the story.

Apart from the narrator pronouncing some of the places and names a little differently to how I'd spelled them out in my head, I've found the narration to be excellent. The one slight grumble is that the "chapters" listed when I'm playing the audio book on my iPhone don't correspond with the actual book chapters.

On the whole though, this is a great audio book, and well worth a listen.

Great audio book

two parts seem to be put in the wrong order towards the middle of the book. ..

love it!

I read The Wheel of Time - The Eye of tbe World many years ago and was swept up by the late author's writing style.

From the start the world and characters appeared to have more dimension than other fantasy novels. This is because the late author incorporated aspects of our cultures and legends into the events, and personal traits of people into the characters.

This makes the setting's culture and characters more believable and makes the story even more gripping.

Vast distances in time. Complex cultures. And a small group of youths from Emond's Field trying to survive (and best) a very powerful supernatural enemy.

It doesn't invert the Bible like other books but rather borrows from the theological concepts of many religions.

Epic is an understatement.

Now that the series is completed, I would recommend these Audio Books to any fan of The Wheel of Time.

An Epic begins...

I'm not going to review every book in the Wheel of Time series since if you read/listen to this one you'll probably listen to them all. Some of the books are certainly better than others, but on the whole the standard is high. It's a long story but I have to say the way it was written and performed was absolutely gripping. It used up over a years worth of Audible credits and when I finished the series I was left mourning for the characters. Well worth it.

A year well spent!

Amazing all round

The adventure hooks you in pretty quickly and the first half has a nice pace that keeps you listening on. Along with interesting characters, lore and story im exited to delve into the next book. I was rather surprised by a story turn later on in the book that kinda ruins the mysterious atmosphere and the ending completely changes gear from the original pace established. Still eager to continue the series however. Audiobook was read well, no issues with narration.

Fun fanasty adventure, interesting take on legands
