I preferred this book to The Kill Order, it was nice to be back with familiar characters and see how it all began, but the only really new revelation, which I think I’d suspect during the main books in the series, came in the last part of the epilogue. I was going to go into the next series, The Maze Cutter, but think I will wait until book three comes out in September so I can binge it. I listened to the audiobook of this title which was well narrated.

Better than The Kill Order

Gripping start to finish, if you've read the others in the series. I was left wanting more.

This cleared up a lot of unanswered questions

I love this series and I think this book is the perfect look into Thomas' life before the maze. The performance was on point as always as well 👌

Not sure if James Dashnal has ever talked to a young child before, but I can tell you that mine don't think/speak like young Thomas!! That ridiculousness aside, I liked it, and it did answer some questions I had about Thomas's origins.
Would be nice to see it adapted for the big screen!

Answers a lot of questions. Good book.

Now I know how the story started as far as Tomas is concerned. Great performance as usual. I'll have to listen to all the other books again now.
