Was a little disappointed by this after how good threadneedle was. It was a little too YA for me but I did enjoy it overall and it was nice to see a bit more of Rowans story. For a novella it had a nice little plot and I enjoyed learning more about the magic system in the threadneedle world.

Mostly docked a whole star for the bad audiobook narration (for my personal taste). The narrators voice was clear but fairly hoarse and it was narrated in quite a childish and over dramatised style which was very over the top. To be honest if I hadn’t spent an audible credit on it, I’m not sure I would have pushed through, definitely would recommend you preview the narration before purchasing.

Hugely over-acted - every word exaggerated as if the listener is deaf or stupid. Found it almost unbearable to listen to.

I really wanted to like this but the narration ruined it for me. So over the top and exaggerated. I felt like it was being read for young children. I appreciate that the main character is younger than she is in the first book but the narration, to me, seemed to be more suited to a much younger audience. Some of character voices were quite cringe worthy.
I really enjoyed Threadneedle, hence the listen for this. Hopefully the next, full length, installment from that world well be with us soon.
