About this listen

This is DC Smith's third investigation with the Diver and Diver Associates agency. They have been asked by a member of Norfolk's aristocracy to look into the tragic death of her younger brother, Freddie, the late Lord Thorpe of the title. The inquest verdict was of misadventure, but it isn't long before Smith begins to suspect there has been a serious miscarriage of justice.

Another master piece

I have waited for sometime for this latest Peter Granger D C Smith story and it was worth the wait.
As ever the narration was excellent.
I feel I know these characters so well now.
Please keep the stories coming.

great story line

have read all the books on DC Smith, as a policeman and as an investigater, and have loved every one, the story lines are all different, but the narrator, the dry sense of humour, and all other characters are still the same, these are the most welcoming part of these books, please keep them coming

A thoughtful reading

The reader is thoughtful and uses pauses in the reading to allow the listener to appreciate characters emotions. The link between the King’s Lake series is carefully woven in the plot. The development of the new characters means the listener becomes invested in them and begins to hope for positive outcomes. Another enjoyable addition to the series

Characters that you grow very fond of!

I loved this book, one of my favourite in the series. DC does his usual understated detecting in a story that appears straight forward at the beginning , but of course it never is!

An amazing series

This is just such a brilliant series from the story itself to the narration. I just escaped into it and had to keep listening as soon as it appeared on my audible list. This continues to take Smith's journey into a completely different direction with the detective agency and they all work so well together. I am a sucker for dog involvement as well and didnt let me down again.
This could be such a great tv/streaming series as quirky enough with great characters.

Started off listening to this series on audible plus now am buying all the books both for this and the related series - that is what I call a successful series.

A bit missing

I have enjoyed this series a lot and the narration is always excellent. My only wish is that there had been an epilogue. Maybe this. story will form part of the next Kinglake stories.

Once again, really enjoyable

I enjoyed the book very much, as I have enjoyed all the others in this series and Peter Grainger’s other series, too. Each story is different, unlike many authors who repeat the same format. I would always say to start the beginning of the series if possible as the characters develop over each book and it helps to know the back stories. However, they are still excellent books, very well read. The author wastes no words, I’ve never found a dull passage.
