Summary
Everyone thinks my husband is dead. Just like we planned…
Eleven years ago, my husband disappeared. Eleven long hard years I waited, my heart breaking for our son, who didn’t know his father was coming back.
Today, my hands shake as I try to understand what I’ve just learned: my husband has a new wife. This wasn’t part of our plan.
Eleven years ago, my husband made a terrible mistake. I sacrificed everything to help him fix it. But now he’s put our son and me in danger again.
We had a plan. He broke the rules. But who will pay the price?

Kept me hooked
I haven’t been able to switch this off, keep finding excuses to do jobs that mean I can listen at the same time! Brilliant suspense writing and as always perfect narration from Clare Corbett. Great combo.

Confusing
It was all rather confusing. The narrator although clear & empathetic, sounded the same even as she was portraying two different characters. The story switches from the past to the present frequently causing confusion & a muddled story. The whole subject is far fetched with a fantastical ending. It was ok but I didn't find myself engaged in most of it. Glad it was a freebie !

wow
Absolutely worth a listen. KL Slater excels at story writing. loved this book , although, got a bit complicated with character narration, going backwards and forwards in time. The pieces full together in the police investigation, which I still had to listen too, twice.

Easy listening fast paced thriller
I used to live in Nottingham so I enjoy the references to local places. Good story, well written, highly addictive.

The author never disappoints
And also … the narrator is fantastic!! I know her from other compelling crime novels (like the Cavendish series ) and it’s really easy to listen to

Mistress of storytelling
Kim is an absolutely amazing author. I have never read one of her books that has disappointed me. I was riveted to the end with “the married man” twists and turns, and of course credit to Clare Corbett for her fabulous narration. Obviously I will recommend this title. Thank you so much for giving me the pleasure of reading/listening to your books, and please, 🙏 never stop writing.

Excellent, really enjoyed it
Took me a few chapters to get into it, but as I’ve read all the authors other books I persevered. Well worth it as by a couple of chapters in, I was glued.
Excellent book, I really enjoyed it. Lots I could say but don’t want to leave spoilers xx

Disappointed
Couldn’t get into it at all. Lots of repetition and annoying characters. Shame as I usually enjoy the authors work
