Summary

The classic recording of The Subtle Knife, read by Philip Pullman and a full cast of narrators.

‘She had asked: what is he? A friend or an enemy?
The alethiometer answered: he is a murderer.
When she saw the answer, she relaxed at once.’
Lyra finds herself in a shimmering, haunted otherworld - Cittàgazze, where soul-eating Spectres stalk the streets and wingbeats of distant angels sound against the sky.
But she is not without allies: 12-year-old Will Parry, fleeing for his life after taking another's, has also stumbled into this strange new realm.
On a perilous journey from world to world, Lyra and Will uncover a deadly secret: an object of extraordinary and devastating power.
And with every step, they move closer to an even greater threat - and the shattering truth of their own destiny.
The full cast of narrators includes: Philip Pullman, Joanna Wyatt, Rupert Degas, Alison Dowling, Douglas Blackwell, Jill Shilling, Stephen Thorne, Sean Barrett, Garrick Hagon, John O'Connor and Susan Sheridan.

Absolutely Fabulous

I loved the story lines and the twists and turns but I feel like Will’s Oxford was only temporary but I will know when I listen to the 3rd book. This was an amazing audio book and I recommend it to others, I am 10 so I think it should be nice for others my age if they are interested in alternate worlds but it has some ish scenes so please don’t listen if you are going to get upset because know wants that. Otherwise it is a fantastic story and the voice actors did a fantastic job it was really good. 🙂

Enjoyable audiobook

Enjoyed this audiobook immensely, the difference the cast makes is enormous and Phillip Pullman makes a magical world come to life, this is the second book of the trilogy and I’m sure if you enjoyed the first audiobook you will enjoy this even more,

Will Parry’s and Lyra’s story/ Mary Malone’s intro

Great book, loved it.
Slightly old fashioned voices.
Dreadful my music! It really spoiled the whole production.
I enjoyed that the author Philip Pullman was the narrator.

Very good quality but bit slower than book 1

I found myself struggling to stay in this book for a while. Didn’t quite have the appeal of the previous ones but stick through it and it gets very good.

Very good narration and voiceovers

Good but some the casting is irritating

Great story. But the voice of Lyra is deeply irritating. Same with the witch Serafina Pecolla.
