Richard Ayoade
About this listen
The gifted filmmaker, corduroy activist and amateur dentist, Richard Ayoade, first chanced upon a copy of The Two-Hander Trilogy by Harauld Hughes in a second-hand bookshop. At first startled by his uncanny resemblance to the author's photo, he opened the volume and was electrified. Terse, aggressive, and elliptical, what was true of Ayoade was also true of Hughes's writing, which encompassed stage, screen, and some of the shortest poems ever published.
Ayoade embarked on a documentary, The Unfinished Harauld Hughes, to understand the unfathomable collapse of Hughes's final film O Bedlam! O Bedlam!, taking us deep inside the most furious British writer since the Boer War.
This is the story of the story of that quest.

Very very funny
I really liked this - at times laugh out loud funny, very cleverly written & the different actors/voices added to fun. Surprised by a couple of the reviews saying the opposite- the character’s voices brought this to life. Four hours of
Utter pleasure. Recommended

The Unfinished Harauld Hughes
Utter nonsense and very funny at times. When I snorted with laughter in the supermarket at one character’s desire to make a documentary about carrots because he now accepted that “most” vegetables were farmed by humans, I knew this was worth the read.

Had to stop listening.
Ayoade's other audio books are amazing but I had to stop listening to this as Noel Fielding has a lot of input in the first chapter and unfortunately, Noel is not as funny as he seems to think he is and is quite possibly the most annoying man in Europe. Will buy the paperback instead.

a bit of a non-story, difficulty to follow. I found I wasn't invested in it at all

Jarring audio dramatisation
A few laughs, but instead of a proper audiobook, the text is constantly interrupted with voices done by minor panel show type comedians.
I'm guessing they all recorded their bits separately because it's jarring and weird with no sense of comedic timing.
