Summary

Witches cometh.

The Wind Runner is visiting Riverfarm, and Emperor Laken Godart couldn't be happier. Summer has arrived on Izril, and with it, trouble is brewing. The prosperity of the Unseen Empire has brought both enemies and unlikely allies to the north. A coven has descended upon Riverfarm, seeking a grand bargain with the [Emperor].

However, all of Ryoka and Laken's mettle may soon be tested, for these are no ordinary [Witches]. Where there is weakness or desperation, opportunity arises. Beware the [Witches] because they belong to old ways and even older magic.

Beware offending them because for [Witches]—everything is personal.

Another masterful performance

The story is expertly written and beautifully performed. I can’t wait to see how the grave singer ties in with the nibbling at the webs.

Pacing issues galore

As a person who normally likes Emporer chapters, wow this was too much. Durene is a good side character, but when she has the spotlight it seems like every moment is just agony. Then you had just the overwelming number of Emporer chapters this book has and it quickly becomes a case, for me atleast, of just too much at one time.

I still love this series but this book felt in terms of enjoyment as bad as the very first for me. It had moments i adored, but i struggled with the pacing far to often to say it was an overall great experience. I am excited for the future though, what happens story wise overall is very interesting, its just the delivery of said story that sullied it a bit.

Absolutely amazing

this whole series is absolutely amazing. people often comment on how they couldn't put a book down and or stop listening. Well this is one of them. Narratived to a level of excellence and a story that just keeps pulling you in.
Thank you

A great series still

Although personally I didn't care too much about the current arc. This book is kind of a setup for great things to come, but I would have liked the Erin and Floss storylines to have progressed a bit more.

Very good and very witchy!!!

Had me engaged and entertained the whole way through. I do wish there would have been more inn, and less Ryoka and new characters, but I still enjoyed the book.
I did also realise that the story is probably a kind of follow up to the story in ”Gravesong”. Have not listened to it, but if you want to you should probably listen to that first. This book is however sill great and understandable without having listened to the Gravesong.

Narrator is also still doing a 10/10 job on the narration.

Another great installment!

The only thing I dislike about this series is having to wait for the next book to come out!

Andrea does an incredible job, as always, and the book itself is fantastic. Having seen how much material there is to be adapted in to future audiobooks, I'm excited for the long road ahead!
