About this listen

The Emperor's vision of mankind ascendant lies in tatters. The Great Crusade is naught but a fading memory.

The dream of Unity is no more. But with Horus' rebellion spreading to every corner of the Imperium and war engulfing new worlds and systems almost daily, there are some who now ask: were the signs there to be seen all along?

In these dark times, only one thing is certain - the galaxy will never know peace again, not in this lifetime or a thousand others....

Full list of authors includes James Swallow, Nick Kyme, Chris Wraight, Rob Sanders and Andy Smillie.

It’s a “meh” from me

Some of the stories are good others are interesting and the rest are a little boring. Decided to give this book a go bring as I am currently wrapping up a few story arch’s before I start to read/listen to the Siege of Terra series, and while I did enjoy some of the stories as well as meeting a few characters again, I’m not entirely sure it was worth the effort (and there wasn’t much effort involved). I would only recommend you listen to this if you have pretty much finished Horus heresy series and still have that itch to tie up any loose ends before moving on.

Decent short Stories

Some great short stories espcially near the end. Keep with it. Always great to get a story with one of Malcadors unbranded Marines especially a loyal lunar wolf.

A good anthology

Nice to listen to some stories that tie in to other books and events in the HH, good narration although Stephen Perring should stick to ciaphas cain and leave the night lords to Andrew Wincott

filling in a few gaps

No real standout stories and a bit anticlimactic after Vulcan ploy but good enough

Great

Overall the short story compendiums tend to be of a higher quality than the main series and this is no exception.

Nice compilation which back fills a lot of detail

A collection of stories which often predate the narrative for a collection of incidental characters from previous novels. They are all quite standalone and don’t need you to have read other novels. Most are pretty satisfying and of a decent length. So good for a whole evening.

Its fine

Its a nice compilation. Nothing to write home about. But nice enough to be worth your tome.

mixed batch

most of the stories are entertaining, some are rather dry and one is frankly irritating.

Imperial grim dark with some human chaos dankness
