About this listen
After bursting onto the fantasy scene with his acclaimed debut novel, Elantris, and following up with his blockbuster Mistborn trilogy, Brandon Sanderson proves again that he is today's leading master of what Tolkien called 'secondary creation', the invention of whole worlds, complete with magics and myths all their own.
Warbreaker is the story of two sisters who happen to be princesses, the God King one of them has to marry, the lesser god who doesn't like his job, and the immortal who's still trying to undo the mistakes he made hundreds of years ago. Their world is one in which those who die in glory return as gods to live confined to a pantheon in Hallandren's capital city and where a power known as BioChromatic magic is based on an essence known as breath that can be collected only one unit at a time from individual people.
By using breath and drawing upon the colour in everyday objects, all manner of miracles and mischief can be accomplished. It will take considerable quantities of each to resolve all the challenges facing Vivenna and Siri, princesses of Idris; Susebron, the God King; Lightsong, reluctant god of bravery; and mysterious Vasher, the Warbreaker.

loved this book. I have read near everything that Sanderson has written, but omitted this book for a while. Not sure why I did that. it's brilliant! Definitely worth a listen to.

Very slow to start.
The first two thirds are very slow with not much happening until the last third.

Simply the best
As a writer, fantastic. what an incredible journey that was only wish there was more to come with these characters. The thing that annoyed me most was the, he said, she said when in conversations. It wasn't confusing to know who was talking to who, but apart from that I loved it. This is the second novel I've listened to from this Author and it won't be the last either, a work colleague has been pestering me to read: A Wheel of Time series which I can seen Brandon has imprinted his unique skills onto Robert Jordan's platform, can't wait if this is anything to go by.

glad it had an ending and a completion.
not his best work. and I struggled with a female narrator. silly bits like the way some words are americanised, but thats me. the story held together but had too many coincidence.

Simply superb
One of his best. Amazing how Sanderson creates ideas never used by others & this one is just a refreshing in originality & brilliantly written. Disappointed it ended.

Great story, not great narration
Love Brandon Sandersons books, but I'm not a fan of this narrator - much preferred the narrator for Mistborn Era 1

Probably my least favourite series from brandon
it was really hard to get tgrough the first half and more, as it doesn't take place in a conflict, but before the confluct is made present or known. it makes it really hard to stay invested for doneobe like me. But as usual with Brandon the ending is great.

Fantastic story, Fantastic characters, Fantastic dialogue. Loved it from beginning to end. I'm amazed at how Brandon Sanderson does it time and time again. He really is a master story teller!
