About this listen

A Christmas murder mystery from the author of Death & Croissants

A Christmas short story – the perfect stocking filler for cosy crime listeners

Richard Ainsworth is preparing for the Christmas of his dreams: quiet, no guests at his French B&B and his favourite films on the TV. None of which seems on the cards when his rural peace is shattered by the unexpected arrival of a familiar face.

Valérie d’Orçay has hotfooted it from Paris with her chihuahua in tow and an invitation to a Christmas themed murder mystery game. Richard begrudgingly dresses up as Father Christmas, but the costume becomes the least of his worries when he realises this isn't a game to everyone. As other guests arrive to join the hunt, can Richard work out who is the victim - and who is murderer?

Like all the other Follet Valley books, this is humorous and quite gripping. I’m sad it’s the final in the series and am hopeful there will be more, but sadly doubt it.

It’s a Nice little filler for Christmas between books! Always a fun listen. Great narration too!

Nice filler!

Great book, I love the narration, the accents used for native French folk are hilariously incongruous. I just wish the book was longer, it cut short when I was really enjoying it and left me wanting more!

Great story, wonderful characters

A fun packed mystery Ruchard at his bemused best Valerie at her cryptic best and Martin at his strange best

merry Christmas

It was ok. A stocking filler if you will - but not nearly as charming as the previous books in the series

Without the usual charm

A very short story that didn't have the usual 'panaz' of all the other Richard and Valerie escapades. After all the time put in of getting to know and like Madam Tableux (the cleaner, in previous books) her absence was noted and missed.

The whole plot seemed complicated and the lack of fun adventure was sorely missed. Seemed to be too many characters, none of them were likable or had any amusing traits. To charge full price for such a short and uneventful story seems wrong....Sorry Ian, as it didn't even seem as though you had written it!
