A spark of rebellion is all it takes to DEFY THE NIGHT.
In a kingdom where sickness stalks the streets and only the richest can afford a cure, King Harristan and his brother Prince Corrick are forced to rule with an iron fist.
Tessa Cade is a masked outlaw marked for death, but she likes it that way. Together with the mysterious, handsome Weston, she robs from the rich to help the poor, distributing food and medicine to those who need it most.
As it becomes clear that the only way to save her people is to assassinate the King, Tessa must face a deadly mission that will take her to the dark heart of the kingdom … and force her to work with the very people she intended to destroy.

I loved everything about this story from the plot to the characters. With many twists and turns a Robin Hood vibe it was just perfect!
Highly recommend and so looking forward to the next installment! ❤️
Defy the Night - Review

At the start there was great potential with two interesting and dynamic point of view characters but instead of expanding on roles they were entertaining in the author shakes things up and the poor orphan girl must come to court and learn etiquette.
This was painful because she went from a crafty, intuitive sort of person into a damsel/prize thing who was shifted from place to place and rarely actually did anything. This lasted till almost the end.
The royals operate horrendous death penalties and torture rooms but are apparently blameless in the characters' eyes. They have apparently made little effort to deal with the disease this country is afflicted by beyond rationing medicine poorly.
The setting is childish. They have a port city where all the sea-stuff comes from, a Steel city where all the manufacturing happens. Each district seems to have only one proper export.
The actual dialogue isn't bad it's just a shame it wasn't more intriguing. There are no plot twists or turns. Imagine if in the first Harry Potter you had all these really obvious signs Snape was the baddie and then he actually was. That's how this goes.
So yeah, some good characters and some good writing but overall I did not like this book at all. The narration was ok but switching narrators each chapter is never great.
Just dull
