About this listen
Once inside…there’s no way out
A fate worse than death…
DI Murphy and DS Rossi discover the body of known troublemaker Dean Hughes, dumped on the steps of St Mary’s Church in West Derby, Liverpool. His body is covered with the unmistakable marks of torture.
As they hunt for the killer, they discover a worrying pattern. Other teenagers, all young delinquents, have been disappearing without a trace.
Who is clearing the streets of Liverpool?
Where are the other missing boys being held?
And can Murphy and Rossi find them before they meet the same fate as Dean?

What did you like best about The Dying Place? What did you like least?
I'd read good reviews of this and had been looking forward to downloading it and getting started. It's an interesting idea and after a bit of a slow start it gathers a bit of momentum. Sadly it didn't last and I began to lose interest. What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
I was pleased to get there.Have you listened to any of Jonathan Keeble’s other performances? How does this one compare?
This was my first and I'm impressed. He read it very well. Was The Dying Place worth the listening time?
On balance, not really.Any additional comments?
I didn't get to know the characters, we only got glimpses into who the main protagonists are and none of them appealed to me.Disappointing

What spoiled it for me was Jonathan Keeble's one tone Scouse accent for all the characters, everyone sounded the same. On Veste's own scale of Scouse accents everyone was doing Jamie Carragher impressions. Added to that was the mispronunciation of Liverpool place names, This was a shame as Jonathan Keeble's normal voice is excellent for audio books, if he had steered clear of attempting scouse accents for everyone it would have been more enjoyable.
One note Scouse accent spoiles a fairly good story

This is a really good book, with excellent narration. Not quite as good as the other two in the series though. It goes on a bit and would benefit from having been edited down a little.Good, but the other two are better.
