About this listen

From the Queen of Police Procedural Joy Ellis, the #1 bestselling author of the Jackman and Evans series and Guard Her with Your Life, comes a terrifying new Audible Original thriller featuring a brand-new detective, Det. Inspector Kate Carter. Performed by Hayley Atwell (Agent Carter, Mission: Impossible, Captain America).

Det. Inspector Kate Carter and her team are assigned to investigate the murder of man found inside the wreckage of a car. A vintage vinyl record from 1964, found next to the body, soon turns out to be an important clue as a second body is discovered. And meanwhile, Det. Inspector Kate, shrewd and smart, and a happy-go-lucky mum to three children, has something very dark to contend with her in her personal life. Sinister phone calls, creepy notes left on her car, unwanted gifts being left at her doorstep: Kate can no longer deny that she herself is being pursued by an obsessive stalker…

Brilliant but short

A definite page turner. Shame it wasn’t longer but because of that, it’s a fast paced book that leaves you wanting more. Hoping this will be the first in a series…

Short and sweet story, great narration, and as always well written by Joy (le fens).

Love the way the two threads of the story came together.

Happy ever after. Best way to end a story. Loved the characters. Looking forward to more from this author

Great

Wonderful story with a twist.
The only downside is the narrator and the constant clacking of her loose dentures. It was fine whilst listening on loudspeaker but drove me crazy when listening with headphones. (Hayley please invest in some denture adhesive)

Excellent

As a Joy Ellis fan I was delighted to find this book to listen to. An amazing addition to the Lincolnshire fens police department. Recommended for a great holiday read.

Easy Listen

Plot too predictable but a good easy listen. Although it kept me busy predicting the plot!

A enjoyable listen

I would definitely recommend adding this one to your playlist. Not my favourite I have to say after Anna Lou Wetherley
